J'ai découvert ce projet grâce au EP "Three", j'ai tellement aimé que j'ai acheté les autres disques existants dont ce second opus ! Superbe production due a Tony Lowe qui a joué avec pas mal de monde ! Apparemment, c'est un grand fan de prog rock sophistiqué. La musique est inscrite dans notre époque, mais on remarque parfois par-ci par-là des touches de prog des '70's de toute beauté. Mes titres favoris sont "Gunshot Lips", "Algorithm", "Butterfly suite", "22 Layers of sunlight'...

Not that it matters (*), but I'd usually take my prog a tad more metal. The cheer brillance and boldness here makes it up for it. (*) It does matter. It might convince other metalheads to give it a try. Also, don't depreciate yourself, unless it is for a joke. -- What? But my life is a joke! Infernal is more convoluted than this note, and far more beautifully written.

The more I explore Phideaux’s catalogue the more I’m inclined to call it psychedelic prog. I love the elements of classic rock and folk in it. The closest sound comparison I can think of is some of The Decemberist’s music (The Crane Wife). I love the dreamy, melodic delivery of the lyrics & how they branch off in unpredictable twists & turns. Great music! I think I prefer Phideaux’s older music over the new. Thx, Phideaux, for the generous sharing of your prodigious talents! 8.5+/10.
